Job Summary:

The Gas Measurement Technician II must be team-oriented, proactive, and goal-driven. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, and calibrating gas meters and associated mechanical and/or electronic systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform job duties onshore and/or offshore, utilizing a company vehicle and/or transportation by helicopter, boat, seaplane, etc.;
  • Out of town stay and/or offshore stay is sometimes required; 
  • Maintain work schedule with customers and SPL. If any changes are made to the schedule, notification to the customer and the appropriate SPL office is required. On non-scheduled days, the Measurement Technician will perform assignments at the office; 
  • May be required to be part of the "On Call" program on a rotating schedule. These hours can be extended into weekends and/or holidays; 
  • Maintain and account for assigned SPL property. This includes tools, company vehicle, cell phone, laptop, calibration equipment, and parts; 
  • Properly prepare all necessary paperwork and documentation of service performed on a timely basis and submit documentation to appropriate SPL office personnel for processing—includes but is not limited to COC documentation, field service tickets, and related calibration reports;
  • Identification of industry-related equipment and measurement terminology;
  • Install, configure, calibrate, and maintain primary and secondary devices;
  • Multi-point verification;
  • Orifice plate inspection;
  • Troubleshooting of gas measurement systems;
  • Edit and maintain preventative maintenance schedule;
  • Procure spot or composite gas samples; 
  • Transport hazardous and/or nonhazardous materials;
  • Witness allocation and custody transfer calibrations;
  • May be asked to train new employees on primary tasks;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Effective communication skills are required;
  • One year minimum gas measurement experience;
  • Must be proficient with and able to perform all Gas Measurement Technician I primary tasks as defined by SPL’s Gas Measurement Technician Skillsets and Career Path without supervision;
  • Must be proficient in 3 ancillary skills and 2 added value skills as defined by SPL’s Gas Measurement Technician Skillsets and Career Path;
  • Proficient troubleshooting of gas measurement systems
  • Including but not limited to identifying and correcting volume discrepancies 
  • Expanded knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems
  • Proficient in AGA/GPA/API Measurement Guidelines, BLM, and COGCC regulatory requirements. Technicians should be able to easily locate industry standards and government regulations.
  • Must be proficient with one or more calibration programs.

Education:

High school diploma or GED.

Relocation:

This position is not eligible for relocation.

Travel Requirements:

This position requires local travel.

Work Schedule:

This position will work 8 hours, Monday-Friday in the Pleasanton/Floresville, TX SPL client locations. This position is subject to overtime availability to meet deadlines.
