Job SummaryThe Senior Accountant position at Spirit Rock Meditation Center will oversee general accounting and perform complex accounting tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, and verifying financial transactions. The Senior Accountant will maintain a ledger to ensure the effectiveness and accuracy of all accounting tasks, including transactional processing, financial analysis, and annual budget responsibilities.

Essential functions and responsibilities include:

• Reconciling sub-ledger to general ledger account balances
• Preparing financial statements
• Supporting month-end and year-end close
• Preparing financial statements, journal entries and account reconciliations
• Assessing internal controls, including risk assessments and reviews of risk areas
• Assisting with budget preparation and preparing the monthly budget variance analyses
• Maintaining and reconciling fixed assets schedules
• Assisting with initial internal control evaluations
• Supervising accounting staff
• Prepare statements of cash flows, including financial analysis, variance explanations, and key performance indicators.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field
• Minimum 3 years' accounting experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Systems knowledge of FundEZ
• Experience in nonprofit accounting
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including V-lookups and pivot tables
• The ideal candidate must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and foster strong cross-functional relationships, internally and externally. 
  Additionally, this candidate will have:
• Demonstrated ability to retrieve and analyze financial data as well as the ability to produce and present comprehensive reports.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and shift priorities to meet day-to-day operational needs and mandated deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and develop internal and external relationships
• Demonstrated ability to take the lead and work independently on projects
• Combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports.
