Summary
Spire is seeking a Technician I, Field Ops to work in Curryville, Missouri and various Eastern Missouri Counties. This position will primarily be responsible for maintaining the MoGas compressor station facilities while also performing field operations and maintenance (O&M) related tasks on Spire Midstream pipeline facilities to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of natural gas across the system in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and company O&M procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Construct, test, alter or improve diverse piping, valves, and machinery components
Operate all machine shop and automatic equipment when required
Inspect and maintain all facility equipment
Perform preventative maintenance on rotating equipment
Install and repair all plant and station equipment
Perform cathodic protection and test station reads
Perform leak surveys and right-of-way patrols
Monitor the pipeline right-of-way for encroachments and environmental conditions (e.g. erosion, slope failure)
Monitor and respond to abnormal operating conditions
Maintain pipeline markers and manage pipeline marker inventory
Maintain and repair pipeline test stations
Maintain and repair various pipeline equipment
Perform all emergent and non-emergent locate requests in Illinois and Missouri
Coordinate with contractors as it pertains to work on or near the pipeline right of way and facilities
Document company and contractor field work with photographs and inspection reports
Evaluate and document condition of external pipeline coating
Complete necessary paperwork and / or data entry, via computer, for Payroll, Engineering, Compliance, Claims, Safety and others
Regularly uses the technologies used within the field operations department to validate work
Maintain Operator Qualifications related to job duties
Be available for weekend and after hour responsibilities as required by work being performed
All other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
No direct reports
Required Education (certifications, licenses)
High School diploma / GED
Class E Chauffer’s license
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
0-4 years of experience of gas storage / energy industry preferred
Previous experience in gas plant maintenance or mechanical background preferred
Read, understand, and use precision measurement equipment
Ability to read and understand P&IDs and flow diagrams
Familiarity with pumps and compressors
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
Must be able to respond to abnormal operating conditions and emergent one calls within two hours from home
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Physical demands, environment and schedule
Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. over head
Ability to safely traverse uneven terrain
A mix of normal office conditions and outdoors in all weather conditions and in areas exposed to loud audible noises
Abnormal working hours required as dictated by contractor work
One week of on-call required every two to four weeks
Travels to all areas of the pipeline right-of-way
