Job Summary:

Spiegel Scrap Metal is hiring a Truck Scale Operator. This position is customer facing and is responsible for managing incoming and outgoing vehicles, shipments, and containers through the use of the truck scale and industry software systems.

Responsibilities:

• Greet and assist retail customers, check them in, weigh their vehicle, and quote purchase price of non-ferrous and ferrous metals.
• Enter purchase orders into the software system.
• Coordinate with office personnel to ensure accurate and timely documentation of all purchasing transactions.
• Answer phones and direct calls as required.
• Update metal pricing sheet and perform other computing tasks.
• Other projects and tasks as assigned / per business needs.
• Perform all duties in a safe manner while following all Company policies/procedures including required OSHA safety procedures.

Qualifications:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while providing excellent customer service.
• 1-2 years of previous customer service experience preferably in the scrap metal or construction industries (desired but not required).
• Ability to work standing or walking for up to 9 hours per day.
• Computer experience: Microsoft Excel, Word, and the ability and willingness to learn in house systems.
• Dependable, reliable, and trustworthy.
• Ability to maintain a consistent work schedule in line with business hours, operations, and expectations.
• Flexible to work overtime, off-hours, and weekends as needed.
• Interested in working in an industrial environment.
