Job Description:
Oil & Propane Delivery Driver Eastern Connecticut: Groton, Plainfield, Salem & Thompson CT Specific Responsibilities:
Efficiently delivers distillates as directed by the office team, observing all applicable safety practices and company regulations in the performance of duties.
Maintains a daily respectful, timely dialogue with the Operations Manager and office staff.
Inspects and maintains delivery trucks, including:
o Thorough, regular pre-trip inspections as required by state and Federal agencies (DOT, FMCSA), to be documented along with any other truck issues in the company’s fleet management software. o Paperwork (e.g. registrations, hazmat permits, insurance cards, shipping papers). o Regular interior and exterior cleaning. o Daily emergency shutoff testing (propane).
Maintains and submits accurate reports and customer payments.
Participates in regular safety and operations meetings, proposing ideas for improving delivery processes.
Executes on the safety strategy defined by the company management team.
Uses Personal Protective Equipment when applicable (e.g. masks, goggles, face shields, gloves, and boots).
Provides customer service support for delivery matters as necessary, either in person or by involving other members of the Distribution team.
Keeps the office staff informed on delivery or customer situations that arise.
Assists in off-season tasks such as fleet reconditioning, meter reading, tank setting, and landscaping/maintenance of company properties.
Executes other tasks and duties assigned by the Operations Manager or Office Manager.
Commercial Driver’s License, Class A or B, with hazmat, tanker, and air brake endorsements.
Valid DOT medical certificate.
Ability to drive a standard-shift transmission.
Ability to pass company-provided drug test, alcohol test, and physical.
Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, overtime, and on call shifts.
Experience with regulatory agency requirements (e.g. DOT, HazMat, OSHA, FMCSA).
Licensing and certifications as applicable (e.g. CETP delivery modules for propane).
Proficient in the use of Windows and Android tablets and web-based software applications.
