Spencer Construction is Hiring a Heavy Haul CDL Truck Driver - Class A Near Tucson, AZ

We are a fast-paced, growing Trucking company that delivers safety, quality, and on-time work, that specializes in transporting heavy equipment and materials
 
CDL Drivers/ CDL Operators must hold a valid CDL driver license. CDL Drivers work as part of a crew and at times may also operate equipment or provide general labor.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Safely operate heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
  • Load and unload Heavy Equipment.
  • Properly track and document activity logs using electronic logbook systems and reporting tools.
  • Follow all Federal and State driving regulations and safety standards.
  • Inspect trucks before and after the trip.
  • Report any maintenance problems or malfunctions to the Spencer Trucking Dispatcher and Director of Operations.
  • Plan routes using GPS system as required.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude towards customers.
  • Ensure timely delivery of Equipment and/or materials.
  • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, and parking) as well as with company policies and procedures.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from crew on project sites as needed; check that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
  • Actively participate in job-site and safety meetings and all Company related training.
  • Must be a strong communicator.
  • Operate trucks to transport equipment, fuel, or other trucks to and from production sites as required and assist in the maintenance of all equipment.
  • Inspect, clean and maintain equipment and machinery.
  • May set up and tear down equipment.
  • Maintain a clean job site; pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day.
  • Serve as front-line company representative and must provide excellent service to the contractors, co-workers, and to the public.
  • Perform all other general laborer work as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • This position operates at professional construction sites, requiring the ability to communicate with verbally others on site, in person and over the telephone, ability to read printed materials, signs and directions, stamina to maintain attention despite interruptions, ability to lift, push, pull, carry, handle or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds and reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and/or ladders; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, traverse around or otherwise position one's self around the required work and safety requirements to navigating and perform activities on various construction sites in a safe manner.
  • Will be required to work on project sites and operate vehicles, trailers, machinery, equipment and other tools within local, state and federal safety guidelines.
  • This position operates in a professional field environment. The position requires working outside, frequently for long periods of time in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures.
  • While working, the employee might be exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, virus or other air-borne pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines and dust/debris.
 Requirements:
  • Drive and control the truck or equipment
  • Respond to signals and directions by the staff and work in coordination with them
  • Maintain proper coordination and cooperation with the road and transport system while driving/working
  • Perform periodical safety and maintenance checks
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Class A CDL Driver.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with driving heavy haul trucks and handling oversized loads.
  • Knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
  • Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly.
  • Extensive knowledge of the truck's mechanical components and functionality.
  • Must pass drug and alcohol test.
  • Must pass a Federal Background Check.
  • Must have a current medical card per Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Excellent vision and hand-eye coordination to ensure safe driving.
  • Good communication skills and professional manners.
