- Conducts field-based sample collection, genome & transcriptome (high throughput) sequencing & analyses, culturing, DNA/RNA extraction and purification, PCR and RT-PCR, light and fluorescence microscopy, Bioinformatics skills.
- Performs or oversees routine lab management tasks, including cleaning/autoclaving, preparing media, ordering supplies and interacting with vendors, maintaining instrumentation, implementing laboratory safety standards.
- Troubleshooting/optimizing protocols and developing new methods.
- Trains and/or supervises undergraduate research students.
