Spees Design Build (SDB) is an award-winning design-build firm that specializes in providing architecture, engineering, and project management consulting services. We are a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business with offices in the Pacific Northwest and in the Southeast.
You will be part of our Senior Leadership Team within SDB, overseeing the Sales and Marketing Department for a firm that is involved in various project types with federal clients throughout the country.
Spees Design Build has an immediate opening for a Sales and Marketing Director to lead our marketing/proposals/business development team. If you want to match your leadership skills in these key areas with one of the nation’s most unique A/E firms, you may be the ideal prospect. Our company is seeking a candidate with a minimum of 10 years of marketing and proposal leadership experience to provide oversight, guidance, and planning for the company’s marketing, proposal, and business development functions.
What You’ll Be Doing:
• Develop and manage a multi-year, multi-million-dollar design pipeline.
• Define and execute long-term business and marketing strategies.
• Direct marketing campaigns to establish and cultivate long-term relationships with key client groups. Seeking opportunities to strengthen client relationships.
• Identify potential clients within the area of specialty and develop a sales/marketing strategy.
• Understand and respond to potential clients’ needs and objectives and drive a value-added partnership model to build customer rapport.
• Identify and cultivate partners that will provide value to the company position for both market and individual benefit.
• Develop annual plans for the department, identifying strengths and weaknesses and priorities for continuous improvement of marketing/business development programs with an emphasis on proposal management processes and training, and collaborate with HR to identify skill gaps.
• Develop quarterly and annual marketing plans and budgets, working with the leadership team for guidance.
• Keep abreast of national political and economic conditions that could affect the strategies and market development efforts.
• Develop analytics and reports with KPIs to show continued successes.
• Lead marketing and proposal efforts providing direction to staff on the development, scheduling, staffing, teaming, coordination, and final production and submission of proposals.
• Provide quality control during the preparation and review of proposal materials.
• Leverage connections, SMPS, SAME, and other industry organizations to enhance visibility.
• Participate in organizations, and industry associations, and attend events to create brand visibility.
• Developing marketing concepts and leading customer engagement plans at relevant conferences, expos, and symposiums.
• Participate in weekly L10 leadership meetings. Identifying key issues and providing input on company-wide initiatives.
What We Are Looking For:
• Strong leadership and management skills to oversee the marketing department and effectively communicate with the Executive Leadership Team.
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Superior oral and written communication skills.
• Strong understanding of federal A/E proposals and requirements.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant proposal management experience, which must include experience in federal contracting.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the federal RFP/RFQ process from kickoff through review stages, production, and delivery.
• Experience overseeing the development of presentations and marketing collateral materials.
• Experience completing SF 330s, SF 254s, and SF 255s.
• Proficiency in writing and editing.
• Proficiency in InDesign is preferred, Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Visio, and strong graphics skills for presentations and proposals are required.
• Competence with Salesforce is preferred.
• Competence with SAM.gov and FPDS.gov is preferred.
• Competence in researching and analyzing data for strategic opportunities.
• Comfortable leading a fast-paced, deadline-driven team as well as managing multiple projects and delegating tasks.
• Good eye for design and composition.
• Detail-oriented with excellent proofreading skills.
• Superior prioritization and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills. 
What you’ll get in return:
The salary range for this position is $110,000-$140,000.DOE
