Clinic Nurse
Supervision: Medical Office Administrator
FT/PT Status: Full-time Exempt
Location: Spectrum Medical – Phoenix, AZ
JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse works under the direction of the Medical Office Administrator to assist with maintaining efficient patient flow and quality care during clinic hours. The position works with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Nurses, and Medical Assistants to provide comprehensive care in a stigma-free, nonjudgmental manner. This role is responsible for performing clinical nursing duties and offering support to Medical Assistants.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
· Act and serve as a liaison between the patient and the providers.
· Perform patient assessments, record vitals, and update patient records.
· Prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests: taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature and document findings.
· Act as Cabenuva and Apretude Supervisor.
· Collaborate with the providers to provide education on injections and procedures, answer questions, and arrange future follow up visits, including Cabuneva and Apretude injections.
· Triage patient phone calls to facilitate appropriate level of care.
· Maintain medication records, administer medication upon provider orders.
· Manage specialty injection supplies and maintain inventory.
· Use proper injection techniques and educate support staff as instructed by providers.
· Participate in the medical office emergency routine when required. Summon Emergency Medical Services (EMS) or assist other staff members as needed.
· Order and monitor medications for efficacy or possible side effects.
· Order laboratory and other tests pertaining to the specialty of the practice.
· Complete prior authorizations started by Community Walgreens.
· Respond timely to patient inquiries or concerns by following office protocols.
· Assist in offering clinical support for medical assistants and other support staff, as instructed.
· Act as point of contact for peer-to-peer telephone calls.
· Act as point of contact to address abnormal labs and various test results, including critical labs by following provider orders or established protocols.
· Relay patient test results as provider request.
· All other duties as assigned by Medical Office Administrator.
ALL DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS MUST BE PERFORMED CONSISTENT WITH THE SPECTRUM MEDICAL CARE CENTER PERFORMANCE STANDARDS.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education Minimum: Associates Degree in Nursing
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in nursing
Work Experience
3 Years working in the healthcare field; experience in HIV, STI, and/or LGBTQ Healthcare Preferred
License and certifications
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Arizona
BLS/CPR Certification
Required skills, knowledge, and abilities
· Active State License
· Valid driver's license with a clear driving record
· Strong communication, organizational and time-management skills.
· Ability to provide services with cultural competence.
· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
· Able to comply with HIPAA Regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.

· Ability to communicate effectively and timely/ bilingual Spanish preferred.
· Experience using EHR programs, *eCW experience preferred*.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. Occasionally the employee must stoop, bend, and lift or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
