Who We Are

Dignity and respect are simple human gifts, belonging to all. Since 1976, Spectrum has worked to strengthen children, families, and communities across the state of Michigan. Each day, more than 1,450 children, teens, and adults who deal with mental, physical, emotional, and/or behavioral challenges find help in a Spectrum program. And we are gratified they do.

Services we provide

Spectrum Child and Family Services supports our community’s children and teens that are delinquent, have been neglected/abused or abandoned; are medically fragile, multiple handicapped, dual diagnosed, and behaviorally and/or emotionally impaired. Our programs support a population with constantly changing needs and our goal is to strengthen and empower the families, so they become self-sufficient, stable, and competent.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide therapeutic services, assessment and placement planning services to youth in the Destiny Center and their families and to coordinate the provision of collateral services as required by the State of Michigan laws, Child Welfare Licensing requirements and applicable service standards as found in: “Mental Health Stabilization” Master Contract, “Destiny Center” Manual, MDHHS Services Manual Items 710 - 715G (Protective Services); and Items 910-912 (Placement Resources), Public Acts 238 (Child Protection Law) and its Amendment, Public Act 372, Public Act 116 (Child Care Organization Licensing
Act), and the Licensing Rules for Child Caring Institutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Master's degree in clinical psychology, social work or guidance and counseling.  

Experience:Two years of experience in evaluation, assessment, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Informed Care and other therapeutic intervention. 

Professional license or certification: Maintain certification for professional license, e.g. limited license in psychology,
certified social worker, limited licensed professional counselor, or licensed professional counselor, etc.

Transportation: Reliable and ongoing as required to assist with youth activities. Valid unrestricted Michigan Driver's License. Good driving record.

Other: Satisfactory MDHHS Central Registry Clearance and Police Record Check.Negative TB test, Satisfactory Physical Exam and a Negative Drug Screen.

Trauma Informed Care: One year experience preferred, or Agency trainings completed within6 months
