The Arc of Essex County is the premier service provider for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Northern New Jersey. The Arc of Essex County Stepping Stones School is a Department of Education approved private school for students with disabilities serving children ages 3-10.

Located in Roseland, NJ the school is designed to meet the developmental and educational needs of children with cognitive impairments such as Down Syndrome, as well as students with similar educational and developmental needs. Stepping Stones School has a career opportunity for a Teacher’s Assistant.

Job Summary::

· Assists the Classroom Teacher in the daily classroom educational program, by performing the following duties.

· Carries out all classroom assignments as directed by the Classroom Teacher

· Participates in the Individual Education Program process for students assigned to the class

· Assists the Classroom Teacher in overseeing the cleanliness, safety and orderliness of the classroom at all times

· Supervises student’s behavior and mobility.

· Protects students from injury, accident, harm or unnecessary discomfort or illness.

· Reports and records all unusual events involving a student’s safety, training, and general development.

Education and/ or Experience:

· High School Diploma or equivalent required.

· New college graduate or college student studying special education preferred.

· Some experience working with children with developmental disabilities and/or special needs preferred.

Sign-on Bonus:

After successful completion of training:

• $250.00

After 3 months:
