Specialty Play Group is Hiring a Product Designer Near Chattanooga, TN

Summary

Product Designer responsible for the conception and development of innovative products, leveraging cutting-edge design technologies and aesthetics. We are seeking a visionary who thrives on collaboration, seamlessly integrating with multidisciplinary teams to revolutionize playground equipment design and foster creativity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must become knowledgeable of all product lines and intended functions.
  • Prepares or assists in the design of creative and compliant play spaces, cost estimates, and presentations.
  • Create and follow designs instructions from initial concept to final product.
  • Develops designs using computer graphic programs, including the latest versions of Autodesk Suite, Adobe Suite, 3D Studio Max, Lumion, Sketchup, and other software tools as required to generate accurate representation of concepts.
  • Must be able to utilize a CAD workstation to create conceptual layouts.
  • Collaborate closely with the Product Execution Team to offer valuable insights for project completion, guiding drafters to ensure precision and excellence in all deliverables.
  • Take nebulous ideas and put them on paper using hand sketching and/or digital visualization tools.
  • Build prototypes and study models when necessary to gain a sense of scale.
  • Proficient in establishing and adhering to deadlines, ensuring timely completion of task and projects.
  • Must have knowledge of materials and methods of manufacturing.
  • Acquire comprehensive knowledge of CPSC and ASTM guidelines, including pursuing relevant certifications as needed.
  • Learn and implement CORE’s Best Practice design programs for National Demonstration Sites.
  • Other duties may be assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

Education and/or Experience

  • Must have four (4) year degree in industrial design or equivalent experience.
  • Must have two (2) years Autodesk Inventor experience or equivalent parametric modeling software.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Collaborative communication skills.


Travel

  • Travel will be minimal with occasional trips to the manufacturing facilities, tradeshows, or help with a project install.

Computer Skills

  • Must be proficient in computer software for design work and layouts.
  • Must be able to utilize computer software programs for creating reports, presentations, etc.
  • Must be able to utilize 2-D and 3-D computer modeling techniques for new product design.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
