Specialized Fabrication Equipment Group (SFEG) is Hiring a QA Specialist Near Newberg, OR

JOB SUMMARY

Quality Specialist is responsible for ensuring that CLIMAX’s raw materials and finished goods meet regulatory requirements and affiliate specifications. The Specialist will do this through measurements, audits, data analysis, and root cause analysis. The Specialist will demonstrate a high degree of operational and technical skill performing calibration, training, and any other activities in which s/he is responsible for.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts inspection, testing, & analysis of manufactured/purchased components & assemblies so as to ensure their overall quality at the source.
  • Operates coordinate measuring machine (CMM) to program & inspect components.
  • Ensures that all Critical to Quality (CTQ) dimensions on drawings are measured, recorded, & signed off verifying the final product configurations meet tolerance requirements.
  • Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities (i.e., first article inspections), consistent with business standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Capable of operating at a high level with minimal supervision.
  • Provides technical assistance (i.e., inspection, testing, and analysis) to Supplier, Engineering, Production, Assembly, and Logistics as necessary.
  • Mentors and trains employees and affiliates on the proper use of procedures and tools (i.e., CMM, GD&T, etc.) that relate to the inspection of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Manages systems used for tracking inspection activities, non-conformances, corrective actions, and product acceptance tests.
  • Provides both internal and third-party inspections and audits.
  • Eager to build skills & support various areas of the organization, as required, to meet both customer & business expectations.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) & performs reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements.
  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of generally accepted quality standards throughout the industry.
  • Handles stress in a professional manner, demonstrates the ability to get along with others, demonstrates successful attendance and punctuality, and works overtime / extra hours as required to meet business needs.
  • May travel occasionally, primarily within the area.
  • Other duties as required.


EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree, 4 to 6 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education & experience/training preferred. Strong manufacturing background that includes tooling, CNC and/or manual machining, programming, or a combination of experience & knowledge preferred. Practical experience using measuring instruments critical to quality, as well as systems entailing Six Sigma, Lean, ISO, NCMRs, & shop floor controls preferred. Strong knowledge of GD&T preferred.

The employee is regularly required to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally required to lift up to 100 pounds (assistance available), and regularly required to operate and maneuver heavy components with material handling devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Office and travel have moderate noise levels. Machine/Product demonstrations and customer visits can have loud noise levels.

Noise levels may be extreme and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided and usage is driven by customer requirements. Other required PPE includes, but is not limited to, steel toe boots, hardhat and safety glasses. Customer working environments can be extreme in regards to height, confined space, physical requirements and hazards.
