Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System is Hiring a Transitional Nursing Resident Near Spartanburg, SC

Position Summary

The Transitional Nursing Resident is responsible for patient related clerical activities, unit clerical duties, computerized order entry procedures, and other unit activities, as applicable. The Transitional Nursing Resident must be able to provide and understand the specific communication needs of patients, families, and visitors. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Transitional Nursing Resident provides focused non-licensed clinical care for patients throughout the age continuum including phlebotomy, basic nursing skills, etc., and environmental assistance to facilitate quality service and improve patient outcomes. The Transitional Nursing Resident will document and communicate with team members in a timely manner the patient progress, needs and problems. The goal of this position is to build professional relationships with department team members and prepare for easy transition into a SRHS Registered Nurse position.

Transitional Nursing Residents will complete PCA/ISA onboarding classes, ACLS, Arrhythmia, and BLS (if needed). They will work in a PCA/ISA capacity until they have passed NCLEX and are moved to a RN position.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Immediate Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing

Experience

  • Senior Practicum Completion/Accepted RN position with SRHS

License/Registration/Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (within 4 weeks of hire date)

  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living in a safe, timely and courteous manner.
  • Performs personal hygiene care with respect to privacy, dignity and needs of the patient
  • Offers back rubs, prepares for mealtimes and sleep hours
  • Delivers meals/snacks and water in a timely manner
  • Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intake, and output with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
  • Documents written and verbal communication, which is timely and effective, communicates changes in patient status, actual and potential needs of patient/families/visitors to registered nurse.
  • Provides care relative to the age-specific needs of the patient on the unit by demonstrating knowledge of the principles of growth and development
  • Appropriately responds to Code Alert/ Facility Alerts
  • Attends and successfully completes ACLS, BLS (if required), and Arrythmia courses
  • Communicates NCLEX test date with recruiter and hiring nurse manager
  • Remain in good standing to transition from Resident Transitional Nursing to RN position
  • Gain experience in communication, clinical experience, and confidence
  • Complies with appropriate regulatory agencies’ requirements, e.g., DHEC, DNV, etc.
  • Complete training and orientation for all Patient Care Associate (PCA)/Inpatient Service Associate (ISA) responsibilities
