Sparrow Company, an executive search and staffing firm, has an immediate opening for a Staff Accountant for one of our clients in Southern California. This is a direct hire opportunity.

 Job Summary

The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Accounting Manager and will be responsible for bank reconciliation, sales use tax filings, property tax filing, intercompany reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and other ad hoc projects/duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and general ledger maintenance, bank statement reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation and intercompany reconciliations.
• Month-end account reconciliations and maintaining the necessary schedules on a timely basis.
• Maintaining fixed asset, amortization/depreciation schedules and tracking all fixed asset activity on a monthly basis.
• Work with external consultant to file sales use taxes with various states.
• Reconciled and Prepare 571-L and other States’ unsecured property tax filing.
• Filing SOS and business license for all subsidiaries.
• Prepare supporting schedules for financial statements preparation.
• Assist in audit and other assessments.
• Other Ad hoc duties/projects assigned by the supervisor or management.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience

• B.A. degree in accounting or related field preferred.
• 2 years of overall Finance or General Accounting experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of accounting processes required.
• Strong organization, oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and administer multiple projects and deadlines.
• Intermediate to advance experience in MS Word, MS Excel.
• Experience with general ledgers. Possess analytical skills with particular attention to detail.
• Fast learner and excellent work attitude.
