SpaceX is Hiring a Data and Controls Systems Specialist (Launch Pads) Near Cape Canaveral, FL

DATA AND CONTROLS SYSTEMS SPECIALIST (LAUNCH PADS)

SpaceX is currently seeking an individual to join the Ground Operations Team in Cape Canaveral as a Data and Controls Systems (DCS) Specialist. In this role you work on preparing the pads for launch, be responsible for ensuring all electrical ground support equipment for the launch pads have been properly inspected, configured, and tested to support Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy interface requirements. You will also assist with building out a sustainable training program to broaden the Launch Pad Technician workforce’s skillsets for DCS work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create DCS training programs to address skill gaps in the technician workforce
  • Research new teaching methods and conduct surveys to gauge the effectiveness of programs
  • Identify pain points and repeat issues with data and control systems during refurbishment and launch operations and work with engineering to design and implement robust long-term solutions
  • Assist engineering and technician teams with system maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Design, build, and test small to medium upgrades on instrumentation or data acquisition hardware
  • Interact with vendors and drive technical issues to resolution with little oversight
  • Provide innovative solutions to problems while working with minimal supervision
  • Drive efficiency and site-wide commonality into all aspects of ground operations by closely collaborating with engineering staff, management and technicians from multiple departments on a daily basis
  • Create schematics and assist with maintaining up to date electrical GSE documentation using Microsoft Office and other digital recordkeeping software

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 2 years of professional experience working with electrical ground support systems, industrial controls, and/or end devices
  • 1 year(s) of professional experience working around high-pressure gas, cryogenic or hydraulic systems
  • Experience with training personnel

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 year(s) of professional experience working with process multimeters and instrument simulation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
  • Ability to take project goals, inputs, and work toward the end-goal beyond individual task assignment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Familiar working with technical work instructions and ability to gather and organize technical data
  • Collaborate with launch pad engineering and management to develop and document activities
  • 3 years of experience working with Microsoft Office suite (Visio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and best practices of GSE Fluid Systems
  • Knowledge of PLC programming, basic software language, TCP/IP networks
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuitry, components, theory

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
  • Must be available for all shifts, extended hours, and/or weekends as needed
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods - 8 hours minimum
  • Willing to travel for short or extended periods
  • Ability to work at elevated heights (scissor lifts, articulated boom lifts, and launch platforms)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

DCS Specialist/Level 1: $30.00 - $39.00/hour

DCS Specialist/Level 2: $35.00 - $46.00/hour

DCS Specialist/Level 3: $40.00 - $53.00/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
