Responsibilities

What you'll do

  • Draft position statements and other responsive pleadings to actions filed with state and federal administrative agencies alleging violations of state and federal employment laws and regulations
  • Take an active role in litigation management of employment actions in federal, state and administrative venues on behalf of Company including responding to information requests
  • Draft employment contracts, independent contractor agreements, non-compete and separation agreements
  • Review, update and draft company employment policies, including employee handbook
  • Participate in mediations and negotiate and draft settlement agreements
  • Research various issues, including but not limited to developments in labor and employment law at the local, state and federal levels
  • Develop and administer training on topics related to developments in employment law.
  • Investigate or oversee investigations of alleged discrimination, harassment, wage and hour claims and ethics violations
  • Counsel field operations personnel on employee coaching, corrective action and performance management
  • Advise administrative and field personnel on compliance with state and federal law including but not limited to the FMLA, FLSA and ADAAA
  • Assist field in preparing responses to union grievances and resolving employee relations issues
  • Represent company in arbitration proceedings and prepare post-arbitration briefs
  • Lead and assist with negotiating collective bargaining agreements with unions nationwide
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

What you need

  • Bachelor’s degree, emphasis on Human Resources or Industrial Labor and Employment Relations preferred
  • 4 years Labor/Employment relations experience with a Company or law firm including practical experience with all of the administrative agencies and courts that regulate the employment environment
  • Fully proficient at MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels within the organization, as well as legal and government professionals
  • Willingness and ability to travel
