Duties and Responsibilities: Assessment:
  • Develops and manages the College's assessment processes, including maintaining schedules, facilitating data collection, and communicating relevant and timely information to the College community.
  • Assists faculty in developing appropriate, measurable student learning outcomes and other measurements that demonstrate program or unit success.
  • Provides colleagues with data to be used in benchmarking and tracking outcomes.
  • Provides direction and assistance in using assessment software to document assessment results. Examples of assessment software include Nuventive, Xitracs, and Watermark.
  • Develops training materials and provides workshops and webinars regarding assessment, the use of assessment software, equitable use of data, and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Maintains an archive of program and unit assessment plans.
Planning and Institutional Effectiveness:
  • Serves as Co-Chair of the Institutional Effectiveness Committee, which oversees the institutional effectiveness plan for SOWELA and evaluates program and unit assessment submissions.
  • Serves on the Strategic Planning Steering Committee and assists the Director of Planning and Analysis in executing the institutional strategic plan and reporting its results annually.
  • Documents and prepares reports of the continuous improvement efforts of the College and its schools.
Data Communication and Reporting:
  • Ensures completion of requests to OPA for institutional data.
  • Assists as needed to complete routine reporting and data requests for LCTCS (Louisiana Community and Technical College System), the Louisiana Board of Regents, the Louisiana Office of Planning and Budget, IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System), accrediting agencies, and other governing bodies.
  • Assists as needed to complete performance and allocation reporting requirements for the Carl Perkins federal program.
  • Designs dashboards, reports, and visualizations to effectively communicate data insights.
  • Educates and trains data users, including regular training on the survey software.
  • Coordinates efforts and ensures timely completion and electronic publication of the annual Fact Book.
  • Assists in maintaining information located on the OPA website.
Data Management:
  • Restructures data files, merges data files from multiple sources, and cleans data as needed.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of data sources and methodological decisions, including the logic for choices made about data and research.
  • Assists in developing and implementing data standards, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Acts as a custodian of institutional data and information, ensuring compliance with regulations related to privacy, security, and ethics.
  • Maintains reported data, survey data, and other information in the OPA data repository.
  • Utilizes data management procedures to ensure reported data is valid and reliable.
Surveys:
  • Responsible for all duties associated with internal survey administration, including the student survey of instruction (SSI). Survey duties include:
o Maintaining an annual survey calendar.
o Working with SOWELA colleagues to plan surveys.
o Building surveys in the survey software.
o Communicating relevant details to campus about survey administration to obtain the best response rates.
o Delivering survey results and related analysis to appropriate individuals on campus.
  • Administers external surveys and communicates results to the campus community.
Accreditation and Compliance:
  • Ensures policies of the College are current and align with federal, state, and accreditor requirements.
  • Monitors federal, state, and accreditor disclosure requirements to ensure College compliance.
  • Writes and reviews reports, including self-studies, to support institutional and programmatic accreditation.
  • Organizes information and data to ensure accreditation compliance reports and documentation are completed according to stated requirements.
  • Works with members of the Executive Leadership Team and Academic Leadership Team on accreditation planning and document preparation.
  • Develops standard operating procedures that align with accrediting agency timelines and reporting requirements.
Service:
Serves as a resource to the College for institutional data and information.
  • Serves on College committees.
  • Provides input to improve OPA tools and processes.
  • Promotes data literacy at the College.
Professional Development and Industry Knowledge:
  • Stays current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in institutional research, effectiveness, planning, and assessment.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities.
  • Maintains active membership in institutional effectiveness organizations and engages with fellow professionals at the state and national levels.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education: • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (i.e., education, social science, or other related discipline) from an accredited institution.

Required Experience: One year of experience working in an institution of higher education or similar setting.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to query, compile, and analyze statistical data and generate reports.
  • Ability to identify errors in the data and troubleshoot problems.
  • Ability to present technical information clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of initiative.
  • Skilled at customer service, teamwork with interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of standard office equipment and networked personal computers.
  • Proficiency in or ability to become proficient in a variety of software, specifically Excel, including but not limited to Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including editing for grammar and succinctness.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations needed to complete job tasks.
  • Skilled at planning, organizing, and prioritizing job duties to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Maintaining interpersonal professional working relationships at all levels – students, peers, and Executives.

Preferred Education: • Successful coursework in data science, data analytics, data visualization, and/or data management.

Preferred Experience: • Experience working in education improvement processes and cycles, particularly related to planning, assessment, and/or institutional research.
  • Knowledge of reporting guidelines for the Louisiana Community Technical College System, the Louisiana Board of Regents, the State of Louisiana, the US Department of Education, and other agencies.
  • Experience with higher education accreditation.
  • Ability to learn new systems and become a technical expert with little formal training.
  • Proficiency in displaying data in a graphical format via web applications such as Power BI.
