Role
Sowards Glass is looking for a Jobsite Foreman. A Jobsite Foreman is a supervisory role on construction sites. With their industry experience and formal training, people in this role are able to direct and supervise team members and troubleshoot routine issues that occur on the job site. In addition to ensuring that safety rules are followed on the site at all times and developing work schedules based on employee and contractor availability with the Operations Manager, they are also responsible for:

• Coordinating daily tasks according to priorities and plans, making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery and personnel.
• Delegating individual responsibilities and projects to crew members.
• Training, and mentoring team members.
• Providing adequate resources and staffing to meet project schedules, laws, regulations, best practices and safety needs.
• Emphasizing safe use of tools, machinery and equipment, proper safety gear, helmets and procedures.
• Developing and managing project budgets and quality standards for site.
• Resolving conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably.
• Regularly reporting project status to supervisors through PlanGrid.
• Construct, install and repair glass and aluminum structures on commercial buildings including window and door frames, door hardware.
• Lift and set heavy glass, caulk and seal systems and a variety of other interior and exterior glazing work.
• Fabricate and install commercial storefront systems, doors and curtain wall.
• Operate power tools, fabrication machines and/or lift equipment.
• Perform physical activities including; erect scaffold, climb ladders, install prefabricated components, move or fit heavy objects, load and unload trucks and materials.
• Maintain tools and company fleet in a clean, orderly and safe operating condition
• Work cooperatively with co-workers and other departments.

We will train you on everything you need to know, however, there are a few skills and personality traits we are looking for:

• General knowledge of construction
• Commitment to doing quality work while putting safety first
• Possess a strong sense of personal responsibility
• Experience in carpentry, construction or glass/glazing

Requirements

• Ability to learn quickly, strong attention to detail, basic construction knowledge (ability to read a tape measure, basic math skills, etc.) and a strong work ethic.
• Must work well in a team environment.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Applicants must be able to fulfill the physical requirements for this job, including but not limited to climbing ladders, lifting heavy objects and being on your feet for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to successfully pass our background, drug and physical capacity screenings.
