Essential Functions:

• Follow all noosa/Sovos Brands GMPs and work in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality and sanitation requirements.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, local, state, and federal regulations.
• Ensure all policies and procedures for the Safe Quality Food, FDA and USDA are followed.
• Properly test incoming and outgoing product for suitability and compliance with appropriate standards.
• Notify plant supervision and management in any out of range value or variation from accepted norms in operation or product quality.
• Continuously looking for continuous improvement and process improvement.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area throughout the facility and Quality Lab.
• Document laboratory values as required in plant records.
• Manage sample retention and laboratory inventory levels.
• Trains others (QA Techs) on all lab tasks.
• Perform all other duties deemed appropriate, necessary, required, or directed by the Quality Assurance Supervisor or Quality Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise

• Good communication skills, both oral and written.
• Good record-keeping skills.
• Must be able to use and understand calculations used for laboratory analysis.
• Must be able to communicate, both verbally and written, to sufficiently prepare and comprehend cleaning paperwork, shipping and receiving paperwork, laboratory procedures and references, state and local regulations regarding the testing of dairy products and communicate with fellow employees.
• Must be able to use plant, laboratory, and office equipment.
• Willing to work with others, collaborating and compromising where necessary and promptly share relevant information with others.

Education:

• Required: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Preferred: Two year applied science degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, or Microbiology.

Experience:

• Required: N/A
• Preferred: Minimum one-year experience in a food laboratory.

Physical Demands

• Sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending.
• Walking, bending arms, wrists, fingers, twisting/turning of head, shoulders, torso, and climbing.
• Fine motor skills associated with laboratory measurement.
• Must have sufficient use of eyes, ears, nose, and full power of speech.

Environmental Conditions

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to temperature fluctuations, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
