The Patient Safety Administrative Director provides leadership of assigned department/programs focused on optimizing the organization’s quality and safety of clinical systems. Responsible for monitoring and reporting on overall quality, safety and value performance in support of annual goals. Maintains a management portfolio of assigned strategic quality programs, and serves as a role model, mentor and resource to program staff members. This role requires attention to detail, strong data analysis and interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate across all health system team members, and presentation skills, preferred Healthcare background.

Responsibilities

  • Uses advanced operations, systems knowledge and/or clinical expertise in management of the Quality, Safety, Infection Prevention and infrastructure; works strategically with D-HH Member hospital leaders to achieve infection prevention program integration goals and priorities to assure efficient and effective operations by reducing program variation across D-HH
  • Assumes primary responsibility for developing efficient quality and safety departmental/program procedures with an emphasis on high quality program performance.
  • Provides direct leadership and coordination for areas of responsibility. Evaluates performance, encourages and supports staff education, and fosters personal and professional development.
  • Participates in or provides leadership to clinical committees to assure that strategic imperatives are identified and acted upon, resulting in the highest impact on patient outcomes.
  • Applies advanced competency in high reliability organizing during formal and informal consultation with individual staff, clinicians, department leaders and committees/teams to identify and address clinical quality and safety concerns, coordinates the performance of risk assessments and follows up on corrective actions.
  • Responsible for hiring and interviewing of all new staff as well as maintaining departmental orientation and training procedures for new employees.
  • Using advanced critical thinking and clinical experience, facilitates a multidisciplinary approach to problem identification and resolution with other stakeholder departments/sections at D-H to improve the quality and safety of clinical systems.
  • Applies advanced leadership, analytical, and change management skills to identify and develop new programs or methodologies for delivering the department’s clinical services more effectively and efficiently by initiating and reviewing proposals for modifying operational systems, practices, policies and procedures, and implementing necessary changes.
  • Develops and carries out a full range of management and reporting activities of the assigned programs and projects including, but not limited to, preparation of the annual program execution plan, staffing plan and financial budget, monitoring and reporting program performance in relation to annual plans and budget, developing strategies for improvement and/or the correction of deviations from plans and budget.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • A Master's degree along with a Bachelor’s of Science degree and 5 years of related supervisory/management experience required.
  • Experience with healthcare accreditation and regulatory compliance preferred
  • Clinical experience preferred
  • Greenbelt in process improvement methods or equivalent with 5 years of experience leading improvement or system design projects.
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal, oral and writing skills are required.
  • Exemplary leadership qualities.
  • Prior experience with budgetary preparation and systems development is required.
  • The ability to relate and deal effectively with physicians, administrators, support staff, and the general public with a high degree of tact and discretion is required.
  • Clinical experience in a hospital setting or equivalent utilizing comprehensive knowledge of care delivery principles for specific populations
  • Certification in modern improvement methodology (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) and/or Professional Project Management and/or Healthcare Quality preferred.

Required Licensure/Certifications

- If incumbent is a licensed clinician, maintaining a current VT license will be required. If incumbent is not a licensed clinician, no other license is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
