Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for a part-time, non-union position of Tutor.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, this individual will report to the Coordinator of the assigned Success Center or to the Director of Success Programs. The work involves providing academic support to students needing and/or requesting assistance. The part-time tutor will work with students individually and in groups providing tutoring in specific content areas, basic skills, and study skills. The part-time tutor will work a flexible schedule. Part-time tutors will function much like peer tutors, but will be ineligible for a peer tutor position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1 Associate’s degree in related discipline preferred.
2 Experience tutoring preferred.
3 A grade of A in courses tutored preferred (B accepted in certain circumstances).
4 Referral by an instructor in the subject or discipline to be tutored.
5 Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above.
6 Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
7 Knowledge of computer applications, software packages, and the Internet required.
SALARY: $14.00 per hour, up to 9 hours per week
WORK LOCATION: District-wide
