Business Solutions and One-Stop Services Manager

Overall Responsibilities: Provides professional and administrative work through the Virginia Works/American Job Centers that ensures that businesses and job seekers receive comprehensive and impactful services that align with the goals and strategic plan of the Southwest Region.

Business Engagement Duties:

§ Lead the Southwest Virginia Workforce Development Business Solutions Team (BST) by coordinating services aligned with the WDB’s business engagement and local strategic plans.

§ Using a business-centered approach, listen to the Region’s business and industry leaders and economic developers to identify service gaps, training needs, employment, and layoff aversion needs. A 48-hour response is required when service requests are made.

§ Provides monthly connections to businesses and economic development organizations. The majority of meetings should be face-to-face, either physically or virtually, with preference being given to in-person.

§ Work with Chambers of Commerce and business and economic development groups (ACBL, Genedge, SVAM Southwest Invest) to raise the visibility of Business Solutions and provide impactful solutions to issues/concerns.

§ Develop a portfolio of no-cost services and connection points that can be applied to various business challenges and implemented quickly.

§ Work with the Executive Director to update the Business Engagement Plan annually or as determined by need.

§ Provide delivery of workshops and webinars to businesses, job seekers, and workforce partners regularly and with special requests. Rotates workshops and provides virtual connectivity to serve all businesses and service areas.

§ Assist with collecting business and economic data and commitment letters from businesses and partners for grant applications and completion of the strategic plan.

§ Coordinates the development and release of information to the media.

§ Submit internal reports timely and provide complete and timely data for submission of reports to the state.

One-Stop Facility Management and Service Provision Duties:

§ Manage the daily operation of the Virginia Works/American Job Center in coordination with the Director of Operations and Finance, including cleaning contracts, hours of operation, equipment, billing issues, building repairs, and other issues pertaining to the center's daily function.

§ Serve as the Operator within the facilities and is responsible for the seamless delivery of services. Is also responsible for ALL issues regarding customer confrontation, facility equipment failure, deliveries, building repairs, on-site tours, and reviews. Appropriate notification and reports regarding issues should be filed within 24 hours to the WDB Executive Director.

§ Ensure that workforce services are being delivered within the centers in alignment with the WDB, Federal, and State regulations and policies. Special attention should be given to Equal Opportunity access and service delivery.

§ Assist with staffing of the reception desk and resource room when necessary.

§ Coordinate the setup for all events, including but not limited to Business Service Meetings, workshops, employer-hosted events, community agency events, job fairs, hiring events, One-Stop Partner meetings, and community engagement activities.

§ Update event calendars and promote events via social media outlets, community partners, door-to-door information sharing, etc.

§ Reports to the One-Stop Committee and the LWDB regarding operations, performance, and continuous improvement recommendations.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Ø Must have a combination of experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in business, marketing, and public administration, and at least (3) years experience in positions of management or significant responsibility.

Ø Professional written and verbal communication skills.

Ø Ability to plan, facilitate, and deliver quality presentations and workshops for businesses and job seekers.

Ø Strong ability to use technology in the completion of job duties. Knowledge of Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet are essential.

Special Requirements:

Ø Pass a criminal background investigation; however, a crime conviction may not necessarily disqualify an individual from this classification.

Ø Possess and maintain a current Virginia driver’s license and maintain automobile insurance.

Ø Pass a drug screen and maintain adherence to our drug-free workplace policy.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
