Southwest Truck Driver Training is Hiring an Admissions Representative Near Tucson, AZ

Under general direction of the Director of the campus, the Admissions Representative performs administrative duties related to the admissions and enrollment of students within a campus of Southwest Truck Driver Training (SWTDT). Key responsibilities include recruitment, interviewing, educating, counseling, and performing related work as required. Requires strong computer skills. Also, calls for flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work harmoniously with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients.


Class Characteristics:

This is highly responsible position performing a wide variety of admissions functions for SWTDT training services. An employee allocated to this class of work is responsible for the leadership and direction of a major admission function. Areas included recruitment, orientation, counseling and advisement of students. Work performed with considerable independence under the general direction of the campus Director. Position requires schedule, confidentiality, and dress code adherence. This position requires an employee or prospective employee grant permission to do a background check.


Examples of Key Duties: (Not inclusive and may vary with individual assignment.)

  • Directs major areas such as recruitment, processing, orientation, counseling and advising students.
  • Reviews and monitors all incoming inquiries.
  • Informs prospective students of class options, length, costs, and funds available.
  • Makes sure the prospective student is aware that they will be able to obtain employment because of our Lifetime Job Placement Assistance program.
  • Instilling in the prospective student a feeling of making the proper choice in pursuit of a career as a truck driver.
  • Informs prospective student about the industry, i.e., income expectations, employment options, etc.
  • Maintains correspondence with applicants and appropriate records and files.
  • Maintains open communication with outside agencies and seeks out networking with such organizations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or management


Qualifications:


Education and Experience:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework related to the area of assignment and two years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above


Licenses:

Person(s) hired into this position may be required to either possess at entry or obtain within specified time limits designated license(s), professional registration, certification, or specialized education and training relevant to the area of admissions.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, and to attend meetings at various sites within and away from the office; strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds.


Knowledge of: (at entry)

  • Considerable knowledge of admission policies and procedures.
  • Considerable knowledge of recruitment, orientation planning, and counseling.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with a wide variety of publics.
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively in writing and orally before large groups.
  • Understanding of funding agencies.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, assemble and organize data, and to prepare reports.
  • Computer applications related to the work, i.e. Microsoft Suite and Internet Explorer;
  • Techniques for effectively representing SWTDT, including making effective public presentations and dealing with a variety of individuals from various socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, in person and over the telephone.

  • Excellent reading and writing skills.
  • Managing multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Making effective presentations to individuals and groups.
  • A command on reasoning, customer service, sales and closing.
  • Preparing clear, concise and informative reports; correspondence and other written materials.
  • Command of the English language.
  • Communicating effectively with co-workers, supervisors, the public, representatives of public and private organizations and others sufficient to exchange or convey information.


Salary Range:
$23.00 To 25.00 Hourly
