Safety Manager

Reports to: Brandon Thompson

Location: El Mirage, AZ

Position Summary:

Responsible for establishing policies that will create and maintain a safe workplace. Must have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards; be able to discover opportunities for improving conditions and execute various safety programs; ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Mentor, train and consult with shop safety personnel, shop personnel and management to insure adherence to SME safety standards and compliance with OSHA standards

· Develop and enforce OSHA policies (e.g. accident reporting process)

· Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting active worksites with shop safety representatives

· Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes

· Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures

· Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics

· Keep records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions

· Organize and conduct OSHA training plans

· Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues

· Intervene in unsafe activities or operations

· Liaise with and report to official regulatory bodies on OSHA matters

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

· Proven experience as safety leader

· Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines

· Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies

· Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment

· Excellent organizational and motivational skills

· Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability

· Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities

· Valid qualification in occupational health and safety

· BSc/BA in safety management or relevant field is preferred

· Certified Safety Professional a plus

Work Environment:

Ability to work for extended hours in a physically challenging environment, working from scaffolding and/or ladders as required. Must be physically fit, able to stand or walk, bend or kneel in completing assigned duties.
