Southwest Local Schools is Hiring a Middle School Science Teacher Harrison Junior School Near City, OH

Harrison Junior School is seeking a Science Teacher for the 2024-25 School Year.
Position Overview: We are seeking an innovative and passionate Middle School Science Teacher to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in science education, a commitment to fostering inquiry-based learning, and a desire to inspire young minds through hands-on exploration and discovery.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement engaging and rigorous science curriculum that aligns with Ohio state standards and fosters inquiry, critical thinking, and scientific literacy.
  2. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technology to create dynamic learning experiences that promote student engagement and understanding of scientific concepts.
  3. Design and conduct laboratory experiments, investigations, and demonstrations that provide students with opportunities to develop their scientific inquiry skills and apply scientific principles in real-world contexts.
  4. Differentiate instruction to accommodate the diverse learning needs of students, including those with varying abilities, interests, and backgrounds.
  5. Assess student learning regularly using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods and provide timely feedback to students and parents/guardians.
  6. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported in their academic and personal growth.
  7. Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and stakeholders to support school-wide initiatives, interdisciplinary projects, and extracurricular activities.
  8. Participate, plan and implement in MTSS and RTI programs.
  9. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, performance expectations, and opportunities for enrichment or support.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, or a related field.
  2. Valid Ohio teaching license or eligibility for licensure in Science.
  3. Strong knowledge of Ohio state standards and curriculum frameworks for science.
  4. Ability to integrate technology and hands-on inquiry-based learning into the science curriculum.
  5. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  6. Enthusiasm for inspiring students to explore, question, and investigate the natural world.
