**Overview:**

Heavy Equipment Operator wanted working in a construction/demolition waste landfill

**Responsibilities:**

This position description may not include all of the listed duties, nor do all of the listed examples include all tasks which may be found or assigned to this position.

- Operate and maintain heavy equipment including but not limited to graders, loaders, dozers, scrapers, excavators, water wagons, waste compactors

- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery

- Ensure equipment is operated safely and efficiently

- Perform tasks such as excavation & grading activities, process waste with waste compactors assist with liner instalation projects

- Assist with general labor activities

- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations on job sites

Some of the physical requirements include:

• Frequent use of hands and arms,
• Climbing or balancinge, stooping, kneeling
• Good close & distance vision, color &peripheral vision, depth perception
• Having frequent exposure to or working near moving equipment or mechanical parts
• Having regular exposure to wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat & windy conditions
• Able to work with noise levels typically found in and around heavy equipment
• Must be able to to stand/walk/sit up to five hours at a time, and up to ten hours per day
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to lift heavy items above head and work under or on equipment as needed
• Must be able to go up and down inclines and walk on uneven terrain
• Must be able to bend at waist and twist/rotate as necessary throughout the work day
• Must be able to use hands and feet to operate equipment controls of heavy equipment

**Qualifications:**

• Must be over 18 years of age
• Landfill operation experience a plus
• Waste compactor experience a plus
• Mechanical knowledge or skills related to equipment operation a plus
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing work environments

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $41,800.00 - $50,600.00 per year
