POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide peer delivered support, advocacy and training for parents of children with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) accessing services within the Wayne County Community Mental Health system

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Possession of a High School Diploma or GED
• Must be a parent/primary caregiver of a child with a Mental Health Challenge or Intellectual Developmental Disability (I/DD)
• Must complete the Wayne County System of Care (local) parent training course
• Attend a five (5) day training in Lansing with ACMH/MDHHS, complete 10 month certifying process, attain certificate, and maintain annual re-certification training requirements
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a private vehicle for day-to-day job performance
• Ability to establish effective collaborative relationships with a wide range of persons
• Ability to function in a multi-disciplinary team setting
• Knowledge of concrete services and available support systems to aid in consumer advocacy.
• Ability to integrate own experience when it is helpful to the family
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with employees, managers and the general public
• Willingness to receive and utilize constructive recommendations
• Ability to maintain a professional posture in attendance, attitude, conduct, and conflict resolution.
• Adept at managing through ambiguity, crisis, and changing priorities
• Proficient in the use of all MS Office applications, Office 365 and familiarity with other web-based solutions
• Fluency in Spanish preferred

COMPENSATION:

$30,582 - $34,425 (Full-time, Union)
