Job Description:

Job Summary

The Assistant Manager Command Center oversees Command Center Employees and ensures duties are completed accurately and in a timelymanner. Additionally, this role serves as the liaison between the Network Operations Control (NOC), Dispatch, Crew Scheduling, Tech Ops, and the Station. The Assistant Manager Command Center is a strategic thinker and problem solver who enjoys working as a collaborative Leader in a dynamic environment.

Additional details:

  • A role that includes working assigned shifts. Shifts can include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a liaison with NOC (Network Operations Control), Dispatch, Crew Scheduling, Tech Ops, and the Station
  • Provide operational expertise by leading and directing all activities in the Command Center, including change efforts
  • Coordinate communications between air traffic control to the Stations
  • Watch operational situations that may impact stations and communicate pertinent information to Management
  • Coordinate actively with all Departments to maintain the Station's on-time performance
  • Complete assigned project tasks with minimal direction
  • Drive performance processes by setting goals and objectives, monitoring results against key metrics, and holding responsible parties accountable for results
  • Review aircraft flow and develop outstation support for forecasting and reducing gate conflicts
  • Coach and develop to establish a diverse talent pipeline
  • Maintain a safe working environment and institute programs designated to help reduce accidents and injuries
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing Customer and personal services, including Customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of Customer satisfaction
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits
  • Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Ability to listen to, understand and communicate ideas presented in writing and/or in speaking with others
  • Ability to recognize when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong, which does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
  • Ability to shift back and forth between two or more activities or sources of information (such as speech, sounds, touch, or other sources)

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • Fully functioning, broad knowledge of Airline Operations

Licensing/Certification

  • Must be able to obtain a SIDA (Secured Identification Display Area) badge and meet all local airport requirements

  • May be required by Station Leadership to obtain a Customs Seal and meet all requirements to work on international flights

  • Ability to obtain GSC (Ground Security Coordinator) qualification and comply with DOT (Department of Transportation) drug and alcohol testing program

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space workstation/desk/office area] for extended periods of time

  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

  • Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting (50lbs.), standing, sitting, pulling, pushing, squatting, climbing, walking, kneeling, reaching, crawling, and writing

Other Qualifications

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have the authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Preferred Qualifications:

Internal:

  • 1-2 years of Ground Ops Management experience and/or 2-3 years of Supervisory experience in the command center at the time of application.

External:

  • 2 years of current experience as a manager leading an operation of at least 80-100 flights per day for a major commercial airline.

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $92,950 per year to $103,300 per year* depending on qualifications and experience, with opportunity for future pay increases based on performance and market movement. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
