Job Title: Dog Handler

Company: Southlake CritterCare

Location: Justin, TX

Hours: Day, Evening, and Weekend Shift work available

Pay: starting at $12 with opportunity to increase to $15 after completion of 4 week training

We are looking for an energetic and dedicated Dog Handler to join our team. As a Dog Handler, you will be responsible for the care and handling of a variety of breeds of dogs, including playing, enriching, and exercising outdoors with our Playgroup Pups.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing fresh water and basic needs to dogs as required
  • Exercising and playing with dogs to keep them physically and mentally stimulated
  • Monitoring the health and wellbeing of dogs and reporting any concerns to a manager
  • Cleaning and maintaining play equipment, and facilities to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for dogs
  • Dedication to only using purely positive vocabulary and completion of Knowing Dogs 101 & 102 (provided)
  • Basic training and socializing dogs to improve their behavior and obedience
  • Assisting with walking dogs to and from buses and runs at the facility

Preferred:

  • Experience as a Dog Handler or similar role
  • Knowledge of different breeds of dogs and their specific care requirements
  • Ability to physically handle and control dogs of all sizes and temperaments
  • Ability to recognize and respond to signs of distress or illness in dogs
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively with your management and team
