Supplier Auditor (Corporate)

Summary of Position Duties:

The Supplier Auditor (SA) position is in the Southern Nuclear Company (SNC) Nuclear Oversight group. This position is located at the SNC Corporate Headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama. While performing duties as a SA, you will work in supplier facilities as either a “Lead Auditor” or “audit member” of a cohesive nuclear industry multi-company team. This team’s primary function is two-fold: 1) to determine the effectiveness of a supplier’s Safety Related (SR) Quality Assurance (QA) program and 2) with SNC management approval, the authorization to stop unsatisfactory work that does not meet the identified QA program. This includes a supplier’s ability to maintain acceptable quality standards including their control and production of material, equipment, and services against predefined quality requirements over a period of time. Then, after a supplier acceptability determination is made, the SA will communicate his/her results, both in verbal and written form.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Planning, scheduling, and performing audits and commercial grade surveys.

  • Ensure on-time and accurate submission of quality audit reports.

  • Determine a supplier’s ability to remain on SNC's Qualified Suppliers List (QSL).

  • Support and respond to supplier inquiries from other SNC groups.

  • Track and follow-up on supplier findings and corrective actions identified during audits or surveys.

  • Provide input into improvements for the audit and survey programs.

  • Support internal SNC audits as needed.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate would possess a Lead Auditor qualification, accredited degree in Engineering, and have more than 15 years of quality auditing experience as described below:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred (a technical degree will be considered based on it combined with experience).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of nuclear plant experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of supplier quality audit experience is preferred

  • Certified as an Audit Team Leader (ATL) per is preferred.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Analyze findings identified during audits, surveys, or surveillances of the supplier’s quality program.

  • Working knowledge of ASME NQA-1-1994 Edition or ANSI N45.2.23.

  • Strong teamwork skills (working with various levels of people toward a common goal).

  • Working knowledge of applicable national codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to understand and evaluate the QA program process and the results thereof.

  • Ability to compare the QA program against national Codes and Standards.

  • Demonstrated strong verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills.

  • Proficient in Windows and MS Office applications.

  • Competence in schedule tools, Teams, SharePoint, and database management.

  • Strong teamwork skills.

  • Ability to lead an audit team.

  • Ability and availability to travel to perform supplier audits and surveys.

  • Ability to obtain a valid US Passport.

Travel Requirement:

  • The work associated with this position requires up 75% travel away from the office.
