JOB SUMMARY
This position is for a Southern Company Technology Organization (TO) End User Analyst, Specialist that will partner with Southern Company Services (SCS) and related operating companies to provide technology consulting to business partners to deliver automated or enhanced technological solutions based on the business partner's personal use of technology. Acts as a SME to educate and train business partners on the use of Southern Company standard products and services. Provides project coordination on technological projects for business partners. Works in conjunction with technology peers to provide a main, centralized point of contact/representative for technology project initiatives. Works directly with management to oversee projects and operations. This position supports business partners located at Southern Company GAS HQ, Atlanta GA, Southern Company GAS Customer Contact Center, Riverdale GA, and Georgia Power Customer Contact Center, McDonough GA
Education
Two-year degree in a Technology-related field or equivalent military and/or work experience is required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical field is
preferred
Major Responsibilities
Provide leadership in absence of manager/supervisor
Mentor junior members of the team
Proactively provide consulting that includes technology needs assessments, potential solutions, and
automation opportunities
Partner with the business and other TO departments for incident and problem resolution
Provide specialized dedicated technical support as requested by business partners
Proactively identify opportunities to educate business partners on leveraging the use of technology more
effectively
Provide project management, planning, coordination, and/or technical support during project
Implementations
Provide technical support and consulting for executives and their directs
Build effective relationships with key business partners and provide outstanding customer service
Partner with fellow TO End User Analysts, TO Planning Analysts, Application Portfolio teams, and other
TO groups to form a strong, dedicated support team
Consult with business partners to ensure a full understanding of technology costs of TO products and
services (for budgeting and billing purposes)
Subject Matter Expert (SME) for one or more related technology tools and applications
Mentor junior members of the team
Partner with other TO personnel to provide support (including after-hours as needed) for storm-related
and critical 24/7 business operations
Stay abreast of emerging hardware and software technologies
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Comprehensive technical knowledge of office computing environments including PC hardware,
Microsoft Windows 11, Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
and infrastructure as well as their interaction and relevance in solving business problems
Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with business partners, vendors and other TO
organizations
Developed effective working relationships with all levels of employees
Customer service focused with the ability to deliver on commitments and deadlines
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of existing and emerging information technologies
Knowledge and ability to coordinate work across all functions in TO and share best practices within
business units, across business units, and within Southern Company to maximize value and provide
consistency in TO operations to customers
Ability to learn the business of the partners you support and their local technical environment
Ability to manage local, or system-wide projects using proven concepts to apply technology to business
problems
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Excellent analytical skills
Proficient knowledge and experience with PC hardware repair
Duties may involve stooping, kneeling, crawling and reaching to install and check computer installations and cabling
Ability to lift and move computer equipment up to 40 pounds
Perform all other related duties and tasks as assigned
Working knowledge of electric/gas utility industry and Southern Company is a plus
