EMS Computer Systems Analyst (Energy Management Systems)

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and support of the EMS Windows Server infrastructure utilized in the Energy Management Systems (EMS) department. The successful applicant will provide life cycle administration for Windows Server software and other activities to ensure the Windows Server software is on supported versions. This successful candidate will be a member of the EMS Infrastructure Team, performing Windows Server administration and patching. The successful candidate will work with a team of technology professionals to provide a highly reliable and available infrastructure for a real-time customer base.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure servers are configured properly within active directory.

  • Maintain security groups and remote access to the servers.

  • Ensure Windows server and desktop patching is performed to meet EMS department policies and procedures.

  • Schedule server reboots in a 24 x 7 x 365 end-user environment.

  • Partner with others to help troubleshoot, identify and resolve production system issues.

  • Coordinate with Windows Desktop administrators to troubleshoot issues related to global Windows systems changes.

  • Perform tasks in a timely manner as required for the commissioning and decommissioning of physical and virtual Windows Servers.

  • Provide technical support for Sarbanses-Oxley, NERC and SERC compliance.

  • Participate in cross-team projects and other business needs.

  • Maintain up-to-date list of Windows Servers and Windows desktops to ensure patching and other changes are implemented on all Windows systems.

  • Lifecycle management of Windows Server operating systems.

  • Work closely with network and endpoint security teams to ensure Windows systems are configured to meet EMS security guidelines.

  • Perform Windows Server upgrade and configuration changes.

  • Assist with server hardware troubleshooting and repairs.

  • Participate in general and project meetings as requested.

  • Ensure change management processes are followed.

  • Provide written documentation as needed for new implementations, upgrades, and changes.

Experience & Education

  • Degree in electrical engineering, computer science, MIS or equivalent experience

  • Current Microsoft certifications a plus

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 3 or more years of current Windows Server operating systems administration experience.

  • Strong Windows Server troubleshooting skills.

  • Experience with PowerShell.

  • Experience patching Windows systems.

  • Knowledge of VMware server virtualization technologies.

  • Experience with Ivanti and Microsoft SCCM patching products preferred.

  • Experience with network configuration on Windows servers.

  • Experience with security practices and configuration of Windows servers.

  • Knowledge of Dell hardware and iDRAC configuration and troubleshooting preferred.

  • Experience with Windows Server licensing.

  • Ability to meet Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other federal regulatory compliance requirements.
