Business Operation Technology Services (BOTS) Program Manager

Please Note: You must be able to work ON-SITE at least three (3) days per week and/or as additionally required.

JOB SUMMARY

This position will lead strategic initiatives, foster governance, navigate processes, and drive business excellence for the Business Operations Technology Services (BOTS) for Southern Company Gas and for the respective functional domain.

The resource appointed to this role is required to have a deep understanding of the Southern Company GAS Technology supporting the respective business domains and its associated applications, systems, and tools. This is a critical requirement for the selected resources to success in this role.

GOVERNANCE AND DECISION-MAKING:

  • Support the establishment & enforcement of governance processes to ensure projects align with the organization's strategic objectives.

  • Act as the driving force behind steering committees and decision-making structures.

Resource Allocation and Strategic Oversight:

  • Oversee project funding processes, ensuring allocated resources are strategically aligned with the organization's priorities and goals.

  • Manage the BOTS organization's functional portfolio, aligning projects with strategic objectives and ensuring successful execution.

Knowledge of Southern Company Gas:

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of Southern Company Gas, applications, systems, processes, and tools.

Strategic Communication:

  • Develop and execute strategic communication plans to ensure stakeholders are well-informed and aligned with organizational goals and objectives.

Client Engagement and Solution Delivery:

  • Maintain a focus on business demands, engaging with leaders and internal teams to understand their needs and requirements. Drive fitting technology solutions to meet business demands.

Relationship Building:

  • Foster positive relationships with key partners and stakeholders within and outside the BOTS organization.

  • Drive collaboration and synergies to enhance overall organizational effectiveness.

Business Continuity Planning:

  • Support business continuity plans to ensure uninterrupted operations during unforeseen events.

Demand Management:

Oversee demand management processes for their respective functional areas, ensuring incoming requests are evaluated, effectively prioritized, and documented in the respective tools.

Make informed decisions based on prioritization and alignment with strategic objectives.

Financial Planning and Budget Management:

  • Collaborate with leaders on financial planning, budget allocation, and resource management and utilization.

  • Ensure fiscal responsibility and alignment with organizational goals.

Collaboration with other Relationship Managers and BOTS leaders:

  • Collaborate with Product Managers (Request and Service Management) to ensure that project requests and services align with business goals and are executed efficiently.

FUNCTIONAL EXPERTISE:

As a leader within the Business Operations Technology Services (BOTS) organization for Southern Company Gas, the Program Managers functional expertise plays a crucial role in aligning technology processes, managing performance metrics, and providing insights for effective decision-making. Therefore, it is critical that this person has a deep knowledge and understanding of the following.

GAS Application Technology and Functionality:

  • Gain a deep understanding of GAS application technology and functionality.

  • Incorporate this knowledge into BOTS organization processes to enhance alignment with business objectives.

  • Provide SME input on available data points for cost, time, and scope management.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

Required:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems or Computer Science or Management Information Systems.

  • Minimum 5 years experience in successfully managing and delivering large-scale programs/projects in a strategic leadership role.

  • Or Equivalent combination of academic education and analytical or utility operational experience. Proven ability to effectively coordinate and influence across multiple stakeholder groups.

  • Experience delivering initiatives from conception through execution.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to distill complex information into digestible content for stakeholder groups.

  • Familiarity with program management tools, techniques, and software.

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.

Preferred:

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems or Computer Science or Management Information Systems.

  • Minimum 10 years experience working in or with tech teams to build and deliver solutions.

  • Expertise in program management tools, techniques, and software.

  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and autonomously.

  • Excellent organizational skills with critical attention to detail.

  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations.

  • Knowledge of the principal methods, procedures, and techniques of gathering information and producing, reporting, and sharing information.

  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP).

  • Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP).

  • Scrum Master Certification
