Southern Utah University is Hiring a Circulation Coordinator Near Cedar, UT

Job Description:

Coordinate all activities of the library circulation department, including supervision of classified staff and student workers and management of circulation functions within the integrated library system (ILS). This position is essential for day to day operation of the library for circulation and serves as the face of the library interacting with faculty, staff, students and the general public.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and manage day to day operation of the circulation department including but not limited to: circulation functions within the online integrated library system and update circulation web pages; all circulation accounts, supplies and materials; purchasing and maintenance of circulating equipment (cameras, laptops etc.), oversee campus Lost and Found including collection, documentation and disposal.
  2. Coordinate the supervision, hiring and training of classified staff and student workers and evaluate their performance.
  3. Review, recommend and implement circulation policies and procedures as needed.
  4. Establish weekly and monthly library calendars and coordinate employee schedules to adequately cover all operating hours.
  5. Keep statistical information on library patron usage and circulation of materials. Prepare annual circulation report.
  6. Manage building electronic security system and cameras.
  7. Work nights, weekends as necessary.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's Degree and previous library experience or course work.
  2. Demonstrated analytical, organizational, planning, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  3. Supervisory experience with proven success leading/managing a team or office
  4. Proficiency with standard office computer applications (Word, Excel, pdf programs) and experience with, or proven ability to learn, one or more library applications (OPAC, ILL, LibGuides, etc.).
  5. Dependability, accuracy, and demonstrated ability to work well with the public.
  6. Capable oral, written and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with a diverse university community and user population; ability to work cooperatively in group and on individual projects.
  7. Flexible and adaptable to new experiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. 3 - 5 years of library experience.
  2. Experience working in library Circulation or Access Services
  3. Formal course work toward an ALA-accredited library degree, or other Master's degree
  4. Two years' experience working with the public.
  5. Experience working in a college, university, or other academic setting.
