Southern Oregon Head Start is Hiring an Education Supervisor 0-5 Near Medford, OR

Starting Wage: $23.50 - $25.85 per hour, based on Education

PURPOSE:

The Education Supervisor ensures high quality relationship-based Early Childhood Education services. These services support school readiness with a focus on social/emotional development, and services are delivered in a coordinated, integrated manner. This position is responsible for conducting regular classroom visits to provide monitoring and support classroom staff. The Education Supervisor will ensure compliance to Head Start policies, procedures and best practices.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

I. COACHING AND TRAINING

A. Provide guidance and support to center teams in providing relationship-based quality early childhood services.

B. Provide guidance and support to Early Head Start (EHS) Specialists and Home Based Home Visitors to promote secure parent-child relationships and help parents provide high-quality early learning experiences.

C. Assist and guide center staff on Child Guidance Policy and Procedures and best practices when working with children with challenging behavior.

D. Model behavior management skills in the classroom.

· Ensure the environment in Developmentally Appropriate;
· Support the School Family model.

E. Work with the Education Department to deliver training and technical assistance to classroom staff as outlined in the Education Department Training Plan.

F. Participate in New Hire Orientation training, as assigned, including ongoing training to support the onboarding process

G. Encourage and support education staff in obtaining needed education qualifications.

II. MONITORING

A. Complete regular classroom observation monitoring forms and provide feedback. Support the success of classroom staff.

B. Conduct CLASS assessments, Education Monitoring Tool, 4:1, HOVRS for Specialists and teaching teams, as assigned.

C. Review and provide feedback on weekly lesson plans for teachers/specialists, as needed.

D. Work with Site Manager and Education Department staff to ensure quality early childhood performance standards are met, and the curriculum is being implemented to fidelity.

E. Support/assist in the creation of Professional Development and Staff Development Plans.

F. Monitor TS Gold, SHINE, Teacher Tasks, Date and Deadlines, for assigned staff.

III. CENTER SUPPORT

A. Assist Site Manager, when needed, in addressing emergent center issues and needs.

B. Provide training and technical assistance to centers to facilitate staff understanding of Education policies and procedures, as needed.

IV. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND SAFETY

A. Actively contribute to, and maintain, a safe and pleasant work environment.

B Follow all safety regulations, policies, and procedures.

C. Provide occasional classroom coverage for teachers.

V. OTHER DUTIES

REQUIRED JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education: AA/AS in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or other related degree REQUIRED. BA/BS preferred.

Certification or Accreditation: CLASS Observer, TS Gold Inter-rater Reliability, Community Trainer designation CPR/First Aid, Food Handler and enrollment in the Oregon Registry Pathways. (Head Start will assist in obtaining Certifications/Accreditation, and they may be obtained after hire.)

Experience: Minimum 2 years early childhood teaching experience REQUIRED; supervision, training and monitoring experience preferred.

Essential Skills: Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written); proficiency in the use of computer software programs; ability to lead and effectively facilitate a group; strong desire and ability to collaborate with others; ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.

Essential Mental Skills: Must be self-directed and able to maintain high level of confidentiality; must be able to practice unconditional positive regard and embrace diversity for children, families and co-workers; must be able to accept, reflect and act upon feedback; must be highly organized, flexible and open to change; demonstrate good judgement and problem solving.

Essential Physical Requirements: Ability to occasionally lift and carry 15 lbs. a distance of 15 feet, ability to sit for extended periods of time. Sufficient mobility, strength and range of motion to occasionally stand, stoop, reach, balance, twist and bend. Sufficient manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform repetitive keyboarding and fine motor activities; sufficient vision and hearing to perform job duties. Ability to drive a motor vehicle.

EMPLOYMENT CONTINGENT UPON:

Pre-employment health screening as required by Agency and position (may include, but is not limited to: drug screening, occupational health screening and/or functional testing)

Central Background Registry enrollment

Valid Oregon Driver License

Proof of current personal automobile insurance in accordance with agency policy

Three (3) years DMV court print driving record

Approval to drive from Agency insurance carrier
