Job Title: Intake Specialist

Hours: M-F 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. (Full Time 35 hrs.)
Reports To: Site Supervisor
Job Summary:
The Intake Specialist is responsible for involving eligible clients in appropriate SNHS programs, establishing and maintaining community participation groups for advocating the needs of the low income, representing SNHS with local community and other social service agencies and interested groups, maintaining a system of information and referral, and the coordination of office functions.

Southern New Hampshire Services, Inc. (SNHS) is a private non-profit corporation chartered in the State of New Hampshire, May 21, 1965 to serve as the Community Action Agency for Hillsborough County in compliance with the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. From 1965 through 1969, SNHS was known as the Community Action Agency for Hillsborough County and served the City of Nashua and the twenty-nine towns. In 1969 the organization became the Community Action Agency for the City of Manchester as well. In 1974 the agencys name was changed to Southern New Hampshire Services, Inc. In July, 2011, Rock...ingham Community Action (RCA), the Community Action Agency serving Rockingham County, was merged with Southern New Hampshire Services. SNHS had served as the administrative agent for RCA since October, 2008. As a result of this merger SNHS now provides services to residents of both Hillsborough and Rockingham counties. As a Community Action Agency, it is SNHS purpose to provide social service programs and advocacy activities for the economically disadvantaged, elderly, youth and other specialized populations in the organizations service area. SNHS operates 64 programs, contracting with the Federal, State and local governments as well as other social service agencies and private entities. The programs offered include Child Care, Early Head Start, Head Start, Women Infants and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program, Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), Energy Assistance, Weatherization, Asset Development, Supportive Housing for the Homeless, Homelessness Prevention programs, Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), as well as several initiatives under the Workforce Investment Act. Supported by City of Portsmouth and U.S. Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant Program.
