Southern Mutual Church Insurance Company has an immediate opening for a Full Time Programmer Analyst. This position is responsible for defining internal and external customer needs in technical and business contexts to ensure proposed solutions meet the defined objectives. The position will assist with the maintenance and development of numerous applications within the company’s insurance processing systems. Provide guidance with planning and prioritization of business analysis activities in support of large projects and support efforts within the IT/Support Services department.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
•Resolve technical issues, specifically working with POINT IN systems policy processing, claims and receivables systems.
•Perform all lines rating (ALR) systems work, testing and promotions.
•Respond to internal and external requests and inquiries for information as it pertains to POINT IN data and query generation.
•Understand TSQL and Microsoft SQL.
•Provide Document Management support and maintenance of policy forms and related output.
•Assist with initiating cycles and month-end process.
•Generate month-end file builds and reports.
•Act as primary informational contact for the IT Department.
•Seek to improve job performance through self-assessment, skill development, training and goal setting.
•Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education-
· Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree
· Or 7 years of related work experience
Experience-
· Proficient with COBOL Programming
· Familiar with IBM iSeries (AS400) for Windows
· Possess a basic understanding of TC/Tomcat Server
· Insurance industry experience a plus
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities-
· Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
· Knowledge of reporting tools such as Crystal Reports and Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Service (SSRS).
· Demonstrated expertise in the concepts of the supported business units.
· Able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, including the ability to express complex technical and business concepts to all management levels, peers, and the business units.
· Able to influence and negotiate solutions to business problems.
· Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
· Understands how IT affects an organization and is able to link it to business processes.
· Excellent analytical and conceptual skills.
· Able to read and comment on test plans and test matrices, project plans, and scope and design documents.
· Has a conceptual understanding of project management techniques.
