The Maintenance Technician is a part-time position that could turn into a full-time that is responsible for assisting with routine, emergency, and preventative maintenance for the Southern Illinois Coalition for the Homeless (SICH) supportive housing rental units and offices. This position will work in collaboration with the Property Manager and other supportive housing program staff to carry out general maintenance and repairs to rental housing and offices. This position will work in with the Property Manager to respond to work orders; assist with emergency after hours property management needs; help ensure rental units meet housing quality standards and are ready for leasing.

Required Qualifications/Skills/Functional Abilities:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Valid driver’s license, insurance and reliable vehicle.

3. Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

4. Must be able to work indoor and outdoor in various weather conditions.

5. Must be able to meet physical demands to carry out essential functions of the job. These include, but are not limited to: being able to lift, push, pull and carry a minimum of 50lbs; climb ladders; walk up and down stairs; kneel, stoop and crawl; reach overhead; be around strong odors; and carry out activities that require manual dexterity.

6. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and instructions.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Functional Abilities:

1. Experience in general maintenance within a residential or multi-family setting preferred.

2. Experience working with hand and power tools preferred.

3. Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and other systems preferred.

4. Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to multi-task, and attention to detail

5. Ability to effectively communicate with and provide exceptional customer service to tenants.

6. Ideal candidate has experience working in a social service/behavioral health/healthcare and/or supportive housing setting.

7. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office applications and adaptive skills to expand software applications as necessary.

8. Demonstrated ability to work independently and complete work in an efficient and timely manner with minimum supervision.

9. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a supportive and cohesive team.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
