Southern District YMCA- Camp Lincoln Inc is Hiring a Program Instructors - Part-Time Near Exeter, NH

Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Southern District YMCA in Exeter is seeking instructors who can lead special programs such as tap dance, dance, pickleball lessons, art classes, photography or other classes that will engage the community. In this role you will ensure that participants receive a quality experience in a safe environment. Programs will include formal and informal drop-in classes and activities which focus on the YMCA’s focus areas of Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Requirements

 Essential Functions

  • Provide exceptional customer service and high quality instruction.
  • Effectively interact and build relationships with members and program participants at all times.
  • Ensure curriculum is carried out and modified based on individual ability and needs.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times while performing duties that support social responsibility within the community.
  • Monitor enrollment and attendance in programs. 
  • Maintain a safe working environment. 
  • Maintain and care for all program areas and supplies. 
  • Communicate program information, problems, and concerns to parents, participants, and managers/directors. 
  • Attend special events as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 18 years of age. 
  • 1 year of experience instructing and leading classes preferred.
  • Ability to create and instruct quality programming. 
  • Ability to adapt to changes in program schedule and participant needs.
  • Demonstrate the ability to care about and give attention to participant's needs.
  • Ability to perform correctly the skills to the levels being taught. 
  • Ability to form positive relationships with youth participants, community organizations, parents, staff, and volunteers. 
  • Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work as part of a team for the success of the program.
  • Must be able to complete YMCA required training as scheduled by management.
  • Must maintain updated certifications such as CPR and First Aid/AED. 
  • Ability to stay calm in stressful situations. 
  • Scheduling flexibility.

Physical Requirements

  • Must have adequate sight and hearing to effectively supervise program participants.
  • Ability to walk, stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, push and pull.
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs.
  • Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate needs.
  • Ability to respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in emergency situations.
