Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center has an opening for a Coding Supervisor. The Coding Supervisor is responsible for providing first-line supervision for Medical Coding staff as well as be responsible for a portion of the daily workload. This may include Coding Assistants, Medical Coder I & II, and Team Leads. Supervisor’s responsibilities include but are not limited to daily supervision, monitoring of quality, productivity performance, any necessary discipline of staff, as well as be a part of the coding workflow and responsible for a portion of the daily volume of coding. The Coding workforce is predominantly remote. This position also involves participation in process improvement projects and supporting the work needed to meet department and institutional-wide goals. The position requires a high degree of collaboration with Finance, Revenue Cycle Leadership, Chargemaster staff, and the HIM Department.

Skills, Knowledge, & Experience Requirements:

• Graduate from a Medical Coding Program or an associate degree in a healthcare-related field is required. (Experience in lieu of education may be considered.)
• Graduate of a Health Information Technology Program is preferred.
• Medical auditing certification is preferred.
• Two (2) years of medical coding experience required.
• Two (2) years of Billing experience or Billing Certification is preferred.
• Certification, one (1) as Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist Physician Based (CCS-P), or Certified Coding Associate (CCA) is required.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a drive to provide exceptional service.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication, and computer proficiency specifically, in Microsoft Office and online software.
