Become an Outage Management Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll be responsible for coordinating outages for SCE’s fleet of generating resources including Utility Owned Generation and contracts. You’ll communicate with the plants as well the EPM planning and contract management groups to develop the most accurate picture of our resources, and plan for their replacement when they are unavailable. You will also be the point of contact with the ISO for outages, including Resource Adequacy and substitution as well as Capacity Procurement Mechanism activity.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Coordinate outages with contracted and utility owned resources through communication with plant management and EPM contract management.

  • Review and approve or reject outage requests based upon our forecast needs and available resources.

  • Generate and update outage plans for our portfolio including year ahead and two year ahead maintenance outages.

  • Manage Planned & Forced Outages for contracted resources using OMS and Versify.

  • Coordinate Unit Testing.

  • Share outage position and manage outage strategy for Resource Adequacy requirements.

  • Manage all Planned Outage Substitution Outage Obligations.

  • Keep up to date with ISO rules and regulations related to outage management and Resource Adequacy requirements including substitution and CPM.

  • Advocate for EPM and SCE’s interests when ISO proposes rule changes or tariff changes related to outage management or Resource Adequacy substitution.

  • Generate reports to management and regulators to communicate resource outages and their impacts on system reliability.

Qualifications


The essentials

  • 7 years of experience in functions related to wholesale energy markets, resource outages or plant operations.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Business, or equivalent experience.

  • 5 years of experience with outage management in wholesale power markets

  • Understanding of resource adequacy framework and compliance requirements in California and western region

  • Experience with ISO Outage Management System (OMS) or Versify outage management system.

  • Strong leadership, communication, presentation, and negotiating skills to build consensus with stakeholders to develop and maintain partnerships with support organizations and senior management

  • Self-driven and able to work well in a team environment

You should know

  • When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
