Southern Auto Group is Hiring a Collision Center Appraiser/Estimator - Southern Auto Group Near Chesapeake, VA

Job Description

The Shop Appraiser / Estimator helps ensure the overall efficiency, profitability, and reputation of our auto body shop operations by appraising vehicle damage to determine the cost of repair for insurance claim settlements and by providing timely, accurate, and customer-approved estimates for repair work. He/she documents the necessary repair work according to established industry standards and insurance company regulations. 

The ideal candidate has some post-secondary education or training and at least one year of dealer-level or large facility experience. Candidates must have an unrestricted driver's license and a clean driving record and a strong technical and customer service performance record. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and good computer skills are required. A certification or designation in the field of automotive repair is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares estimates for repair work according to dealership, insurance company, and industry standards
  • Oversees delivery of repairs and manages customer expectations
  • Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
  • Maintains work area in a neat and organized manner
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required; some post-high school education or training preferred
  • One year of dealer-level or large facility experience preferred
  • Certification or designation in the field of automotive repair a plus
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress
  • Strong organization skills, able to multitask, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly professional and dependable
  • Quality conscious and detail-oriented
  • Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
  • Able to drive both automatic and standard-transmission vehicles

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

This is an in-person position and attendance is required to maintain employment.
