Job Title: Airline Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Manager

Department: Ground Operations

Position Summary
:

The Airline Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation, maintenance, and safety of all ground service equipment used in Southern Airways’ operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that GSE is properly maintained, available for use, and complies with safety and regulatory standards.

The successful candidate must reside near the DuBois Regional Airport (DUJ).

Key Responsibilities:

GSE Maintenance and Repairs:

  • Plan, schedule, and oversee routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs of GSE.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure timely servicing and repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment status.

Equipment Procurement:

  • Assess equipment needs and recommend purchases or leases to support operational requirements.
  • Coordinate the procurement process, including vendor selection, negotiation, and contract management.

Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure that all GSE meets safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement safety protocols, training programs, and procedures for GSE operation.
  • Investigate and report safety incidents or accidents involving GSE.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the GSE department budget, including cost control and expenditure tracking.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiencies in GSE operations.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of GSE and related spare parts.
  • Manage stock levels to ensure availability of critical components and minimize excess inventory.

Team Leadership:

  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Vendor Relations:

  • Build and maintain relationships with GSE equipment suppliers and service providers.
  • Monitor vendor performance and negotiate service agreements.
  • Emergency Response:
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for GSE-related incidents.
  • Ensure rapid response to GSE breakdowns or emergencies to minimize operational disruptions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in GSE management or a similar role within the aviation industry.
  • Knowledge of GSE maintenance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Familiarity with GSE procurement processes.
  • Safety certification or training (e.g., OSHA, FAA) is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position may require occasional lifting, bending, and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including exposure to outdoor elements.

Travel:

  • This position requires regular travel across the Southern Airways network.

Miscellaneous Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to pass a 10-year background check and pre-employment drug screen as required by airline regulations and company policies
  • Computer Skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work within a 24/7 operation, including holidays.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. per the Immigration Act of 1968.
