JOB TITLE: HR Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Human Resources
REPORTS TO: VP of HR
FLSA: Exempt
Position SummaryThe HR supervisor assists in overseeing the daily work of the HR Department including hiring and interviewing; administering pay, benefits, and leave; conducting investigations; and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. Serves as the main point of contact in the absence of the Director of HR.
This position may require work outside normal office hours.
Prefer Honolulu base of assignment for this semi-remote position. Must live in Hawai‘i- no relocation budget has been allocated for this position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Include The Following, But Not Limited To
  • Oversees daily workflow of the Human Resources Department, ensuring emails, phone calls, and pending work are properly and timely addressed.
  • Assists in interviewing and training new staff in the department.
  • Leads the HR call with Hiring Managers and participates in weekly stations calls.
  • Either directly or through assignment to other staff, handles all job postings.
  • Either directly or through assignment to other staff, verifies that I-9/E-Verify, background checks, drug testing, and verifications of employment are timely completed.
  • Either directly or through assignment to other staff, ensures all FMLA and other types of Leaves of Absence are properly completed following federal/state laws and company policies.
  • Assists with complaints and disciplinary actions, including investigations when necessary.
  • Processes pilot terminations in accordance with company policy.
  • Verifies that all required paperwork is properly created, distributed, and filed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Ability to handle and maintain confidentiality in all areas.
Strong interpersonal skills – ability to communicate succinctly and effectively across all levels of the organization .
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Professional in appearance and manner; courteous in all interactions.
Detail-oriented and self-motivated; able to work and meet deadlines under minimal supervision.
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
QualificationsPrior experience in ADP/Workforce Now preferred.
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher with at least 4 years of HR experience; airline industry experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various employment laws and practices, particularly as it relates to the aviation industry.
  • Experience with conducting investigations and handling disciplinary actions.
  • Thorough understanding of various federal and state regulations relating to pay, time off, and employment.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Professional certification highly desired.
Miscellaneous Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Computer, office equipment, phone skills.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English effectively.
  • Ability to work within a 24/7 operation including holidays.
  • Ability to pass 10-year background check and pre-employment drug screen as required by company and/or airline regulations.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. per the Immigration Act of 1986.
