Overview
SCCI is looking for an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to join the team in our Austin, TX office. The ISSO is responsible for assisting the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) in researching, developing, implementing, testing, and reviewing an organization's information security in order to protect information and prevent unauthorized access. This position informs users and enforces policy on security measures, explains potential threats, installs software, implements security measures, and monitors networks and systems. This position is located in Austin, TX.
Responsibilities
- Recognize and examine potential security violations to determine if the Information System (IS) security posture has been breached, assess the impact, preserve evidence, and take appropriate action to report the incident as required by regulation
- Provide end user Information Assurance (IA) support for all Operating Systems (OS), peripherals, and applications within the network
- Recommend, schedule, and/or implement IA related repairs within the network environment
- Support, monitor, test and troubleshoot hardware and software IA problems pertaining to the network environment
- Perform system audits
- Lead teams and/or support actions to quickly resolve or mitigate IA problems for the network
- Provide input to SCCIs IA/Information Technology (IT) budget
- Support the installation of new or modified hardware, OS, and software applications ensuring integration with IA security requirements
- Implement hardware, software, and personnel processes to ensure IA security for the network including boundary defense, incident detection and response, and key component function
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of IA security procedures and safeguards on the network
- Implement vulnerability countermeasures
- Implement and maintain security systems including, but not limited to intrusion detection systems and firewalls
- Schedule and perform regular and special case backups on all network systems
Essential Skills and Experience
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and have an Active Secret Security Clearance w/ SSBI
- High School Diploma
- Minimum of six (6) years of experience in the field of IT
- Possess a DoD Directive 8570.1-M (IA Workforce Improvement Program) IAM Level II recognized certification
- Must complete IAM Level III certification within 6 months of starting employment (CISSP or Associate, CISM, GSLC, or CCISO)
- Familiarity with NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, DAAPM 2.1, DoD 5220.22-M (NISPOM) and DoD RMF
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing across all organizational levels
- Strong analytical skills and ability to assist other team members in problem solving
- Strong team player, able to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related degree
- Familiarity with VMware products
- Familiarity with Storage Area Network (SAN) administration
- Familiarity with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) v3 framework
- Technical writing or documentation experience
- Experience with Linux Operating Systems
- MCP, MCSA, MCSE certifications for Windows 10/11 and/or Server 2016/2019
- ISO 9001:2015 experience
- Familiarity with Group Policy
- Familiarity with SCAP Scan Tool
- Familiarity with STIGs
- Familiarity with Networking (Cisco, Dell, Fortinet)
