Southeastern Cable Contractors is Hiring a Splicing Manager Near , SC

Southeastern Cable Contractor is a telecommunication and utility contractor working on buildouts and ongoing network maintenance. We are looking for a Fiber Splicing Manager for the South Carolina area to manage fiber splicing in the SC market.

Overview and Essential Functions: A successful Splicing Manager shall supervise employees in the preparation, splicing, and enclosing of fiber optic and coaxial telecommunications plant. At a minimum, the position requires a good working knowledge of telecommunications network structure; familiarity with fiber optic and coaxial cable, splice enclosures and the functionality of each; ability to use TDR/OTDR and fusion splicing equipment; ability to read fiber matrices; ability to interpret and analyze data; and, ability to identify and troubleshoot problems.

In order to perform this job, you must demonstrate, either by training or experience:

  • the ability to work safely, with or without supervision
  • excellent manual dexterity
  • the ability to coordinate the activities of others
  • the ability to read understand, interpret, input, and analyze data with a high degree of accuracy and completeness
  • the ability to understand and operate technical equipment, including but not limited to OTDR and fusion splicing equipment
  • the ability to lift and manipulate splice enclosures and other plant and equipment
  • the ability to work standing or seated at a work table, at shoulder height and overhead, for short periods

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, develop, and provide leadership to employees of an assigned area, department, or project
  • Review tasks and reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Implement and maintain processes to assist completion of tasks in support of an assigned area, department, or project
  • Communicate with employees, contractors, vendors, and/or customers to assist an assigned area, department, or project

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have at least 3 years’ experience as a mainline coax splicer
  • Must have at least 3 years’ experience with RF meter and core drilling
  • Must be able to read prints and other types of engineering documents
  • Must have the ability to install, terminate, splice, and troubleshoot coax mainline cable
  • Must be able to drive and work in a bucket truck (CDL is not required but preferable)
  • Good driving record
  • Must be able to work day or nights, with occasional overnight travel
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be very conscientious, accurate, detail oriented and self-motivated
  • Must be proficient with Internet, MS Office applications & Smartsheet
  • Must be able to lift 60 lbs. and climb a ladder
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Project management skills including planning, organizing, and coordinating tasks
  • Previous supervisory and/or managerial experience preferred

Company Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Must complete to background check and drug testing

Compensation: $65,000 - $80,000 annually, based on experience
