Patient Registration | Cape Girardeau, MO | Full Time
- Obtain prior authorizations or pre-certification of services to be rendered as required by each individual payor
- Observation patients being recommended for diagnostic testing that could require authorizations; the analyst will have a maximum of 24 hours to start the authorization for testing ordered. Delays could possibly mean denials or appeals depending on the payor
- For procedures that are pre-authorized for a specific procedure, however the performing Physician does a different procedure than initially thought, the Medical Authorization Specialist will need to contact the payor and start a new authorization for the procedure done, this as well will need to be done within a 24-hour period
- Review documentation to ensure VA authorizations are valid for the dates of service prior to performing, if invalid, start a new authorization with the VA to ensure coverage for timely filing and reimbursement
- Complete and manage all paperwork or supportive documentation required for performing effective billing
- Prioritize incoming authorization requests according to urgency
- Obtain authorization via payor website or by phone and follow up regularly on pending cases
- Confirm accuracy of CPT and ICD-10 diagnoses in the procedure order
- Re-verify patient eligibility, monitor insurance prior authorization periods
- Resolve patient/payor issues in a timely manner
- Participate in departmental, clinical and organization meetings as requested Any other duties as needed to drive to the Vision, fulfill the Mission and abide by the Values of the organization
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Minimum of 1 year Equivalent related work experience required
- Minimum of 6 months Healthcare experience preferred
