Job Summary

The Registered Dietitian (RD) will be responsible for providing Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) using the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) in the assessment and follow up of patients/clients. Will develop, implement, change and evaluate outcomes of nutrition care for patients/clients utilizing oral, enteral, and parenteral regimens. Provide education to patients/clients and their family members. Will be a member of the interdisciplinary team and advocate for patient/client satisfaction as well as optimal nutrition for all patients/clients in the inpatient and outpatient settings of this healthcare system. Participate in the training and education of dietetic interns. Participate in assigned performance improvement (PI) projects

Essential Functions
  • Assumes leadership responsibilities to promote and enhance nutrition and dietetic services
  • Employs critical reasoning and professional judgment in decision making and problem solving relevant to the RD scope of practice
  • Uses technology to retrieve, interpret, store and disseminate information in an accurate, professional and ethical manner for the delivery of nutrition and dietetic services
  • Integrates research methodology, evidence-informed practice, and evaluation and quality principles to maintain, improve and advance nutrition and dietetics practices and services.
  • Applies risk management and safety principles
  • Uses current knowledge and skills to convey the specific application of food and nutrition sciences in the dietetics profession
  • Provides education and counseling to meet the learning needs of students and patients/clients individually or in a group setting
  • Provides safe, effective and ethical MNT to assist the patient/client in establishing and achieving individual health and nutrition goals tailored to prevent and/or manage disease, injury or condition
  • Provides nutrition and dietetics services to promote health and wellness and to prevent disease in communities and populations
  • Support personnel policies and the unique expectations specific to each department in which the RD works and those of Southeast Health
  • Interacts with different patient age groups (child, adolescents, adults and elderly) and requires recognition that different age groups require specialized attention or care
  • Any other duties as needed to drive to the Vision, fulfill the Mission, and abide by the Values of the organization
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required
  • Completed an ACEND-accredited supervised practice program at a health-care facility, community agency, or a food service corporation or combined with undergraduate or graduate studies.
  • RD - Registered Dietician In the State of Missouri Within 90 Days required
  • Licensed Dietitian In the State of Missouri Within 90 Days required
  • Complete 75 continuing professional educational requirements every 5 years to maintain registration required
