Central Sterile Supply | Cape Girardeau, MO | Full Time
- Demonstrates advanced skills associated with cleaning, decontaminating, inspecting and assembling instruments and equipment according to approved policies and procedures of the Central Sterile Department and in accordance with specific manufacturer’s cleaning and sterilization guidelines with high level of accuracy. Is mindful of hospital policies as well as guidelines and standards supported by AAMI, AORN, OSHA, IAHCSMM and JCAHO
- Demonstrates high level of expertise utilizing Censitrac tracking system and One Source Documentation
- Operates low and high temperature sterilizers, scope processors, ultrasonic cleaning units, mechanical washers and all other associated equipment in the Central Sterile Department with accuracy and confidence
- Demonstrates ability to collect and distribute supplies and equipment to all user areas
- Demonstrates ability to perform quality testing on sterilizers and equipment; can recognize improper function and reports malfuctions immediately. Accurately documents testing results
- Assists with ordering of supplies and orientation of new employees
- Follows safety precautions and PPE when working with various chemicals and while in Decontamination
- Assists with daily, weekly and monthly cleaning of the department and associated equipment, as well as departmental checklists
- Manages work flow between Surgery and Central Sterile to ensure timely and accurate delviery of insturmentation to both areas by networking specifically with lead nurses and technicians in the OR
- Serves as an expert resource in assistance with accurate and precise steam sterilization documentation
- Embraces goal of overall reduction in Immediate Use Sterilization cycles run
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills and rapport with OR staff, sales representatives, physicians and instrument repair representatives, while maintaining efficiency and accuracy of work duties
- Demonstrates ability to multitask and remain calm during stressful situations
- Demonstrates acknowledgement and respect to Central Sterile Department by returning to CS in as timely a manner as possible to assist with related Central Sterile tasks of decontamination, packing and distribution
- Holiday and weekend rotation and other duties as assigned
- Refers to CS Lead Technician for any issues that cannot be resolved independently Any other duties as needed to drive to the Vision, fulfill the Mission, and abide by the Values of the organization
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
